Football card statistics

Best football card stats website for match analysis

To choose the best football card stats website for your match analysis, first check what each count represents. Team bookings, total match cards and booking points are different measures. A useful comparison shows the competition, venue and valid sample behind every average.

What a useful football card stats website should show

Look for cards received, opponent cards, match totals, valid match counts and the latest recorded date. Yellow and red cards should have clear definitions. A source counting each recorded yellow or red as one card is not publishing bookmaker booking points. A second-yellow dismissal may be represented differently between providers, so do not silently convert one feed into another counting convention.

A worked example: team cards versus match cards

These numbers are fictional, not actual fixtures. A home team receives 2, 4, 1, 3 and 0 cards across five home matches: 10/5 = 2.00 cards per match. Its opponents receive 1, 2, 3, 1 and 2, giving match totals of 3, 6, 4, 4 and 2.

The combined average is 19/5 = 3.80 match cards. Over 3.5 total cards occurs in 3/5 matches, or 60%. Over 2.5 team cards occurs in only 2/5, or 40%. Neither frequency can be recovered from the mean alone. This is why a card finder must state whether its line applies to one team or both.

Compare home, away and referee information carefully

Study the home side's home fixtures and the away side's away fixtures. Keep their head-to-head meetings separate and inspect dates and opponents. Referee information can provide context when the official is confirmed and relevant records exist, but a referee average does not determine the next match total. Do not assume that every competition has complete referee coverage.

Inspect public season tables first

Read the Premier League card statistics and LaLiga card statistics for the published sample, venue splits and latest available match date. Public season summaries can be read without a subscription. They are not the same sample as a team's last five or ten matches.

Use the card finder for a specific question

  1. Choose the league, season and recent-match count.
  2. Select team-only cards or the combined total.
  3. Keep the home/away condition consistent with the fixture.
  4. Read the average and line frequency beside the valid sample.
  5. For today's available fixtures, distinguish historical records from modelled estimates.

Missing data and small samples

A confirmed zero-card record counts; an absent statistic does not. Both sides need valid records before a fixture can supply a match total. An 80% frequency over five games is four observations, not evidence of an 80% chance in the next fixture. Check whether high totals are concentrated in one unusually tense match before describing a stable pattern.
